First Half-Marathon 2021 🏃
Yesterday was the last day of my training plan and therefore the first half-marathon in 2021. I eventually ran the 21.1 km in sub 2-hours and I’m super happy with that!
It was quite hard to achieve this time as I enjoyed life the last days (read: drinking beer) and the weather was almost too warm with around 22°C. Also, I didn’t know the route too well and therefore had to run back and forth a few times to get to my needed distance.

Tesla Q4 Earnings! ⚡ I 🚗 I 🔌
I shared my thoughts a few days ago in the post Tesla Q4 Earnings? ⚡ 🚗 🔌. The Q4 earnings and the answer of the stock market reminds me of the last quarter: the stock price dropped after the announcement but grew enormously in the weeks/months after.
Same is probably gonna happen again in my humble opinion. The best statement I found so far was from Morgan Stanley:
If we had to distill the message of 4Q into one line it would be: Tesla wants to grow and scale as fast as possible, probably much faster than the market thinks, but this will mean short-term volatility to earnings along the way.

Gamestonk
I’ve followed the news about Gamestop ($GME) the last days and find it quite interesting how an army of retail investors can manipulate/influence a stock to such a degree and therefore force a short squeeze.
One of the more interesting aspects for me was the following tweetstorm about how Citadel - a multinational hedge fund - is profiting from all of it. While the redditors of r/WallStreetBets are fighting the big players… For any people/journalists trying to understand the $GME situation, read this top post from /r/WallStreetBets.

Leveraging your Network
I just finished a course about leveraging your network from a managerial training at my company. The content of the training was surprisingly good as it is based on the Harvard ManageMentor. During my career I managed to build a small but effective network accidentally, although I never tackled it with a plan or from a strategic perspective.
The course mentioned a few steps to help leveraging your network
(without depending on pure luck):

Tesla Q4 Earnings? ⚡ 🚗 🔌
In my initial portfolio overview I wrote “I tried to stick with my initial defined strategy”.
Why does it say tried to stick and not that I stuck?
Well, quite an easy answer (and obvious if you read the title): once I broke my own rule to stick with a simple and passive world portfolio and chose the path of stock-picking:
I bought Tesla.
I’m quite bullish on their vision (and therefore their stock), especially when I see how the German carmakers (VW, BMW, Daimler) are (not) reacting.

Running 🏃 each Day (Update II)
My first update was quite positive. But yesterday I already had to admit that I “failed” due to the current location and it’s topology. So how is the overall result of my running challenge ?
Activities 7 Total Distance 62.81 km Average Distance 8.97 km Total Activity Time 6:13:31 h:m:s Average Time 53:22 h:m:s Average Pace 5:57 min/km I’m quite happy with the result even though I failed my initial goal:

I broke my Promises
“Today” I broke two promises I made earlier this year.
I didn’t write every day. Yesterday I was super busy and therefore I am writing the post for 23rd now in the morning of 24th. On the one hand it feels a bit like cheating myself (as I’m backdating the post). On the other hand, I have a positive feeling because I felt bad for not writing anything. So, it is starting to get a habit and pressuring my conscience - good!

I need to set up Automation for Hugo
I am using Hugo as a framework for this blog. It’s a genius tool and I like the simplicity of the concept. Serving static pages and generating them from simple text files.
However, I am currently missing the option to write a quick blog post from my phone. Right now I was just sitting on my couch and already put my notebook away, but still had the daily posts on my to-do list.

Success Factors for Chief Data Officer?
As I’m still contemplating about success factors for Self-Service BI at my current project, I’m also curious what are success factors for Chief Data Officers (CDO)?
I met a (imho) very successful CDO at a previous project and I’m trying to deduce what made him so special. Or to rephrase it: what can I recommend to the CDO at my current project to enable him to be successful?
The best information I found so far is an IDC Survey on the “priorities, challenges and KPIs of today’s CDOs”.

Running 🏃 each Day (Update I)
As I said on Monday I’ll try to run 10km each day this week. Until today I had three runs which shouldn’t be very surprising as it’s the 3rd day of the week, therefore day 3 out of 7 Each run lasted for exactly one hour and I covered 10km and a few meters. So far nothing hurts.
I’m energized for the rest of the week - looking forward how the experiment will develop in the next days.
