Leveraging your Network

I just finished a course about leveraging your network from a managerial training at my company. The content of the training was surprisingly good as it is based on the Harvard ManageMentor. During my career I managed to build a small but effective network accidentally, although I never tackled it with a plan or from a strategic perspective.
The course mentioned a few steps to help leveraging your network
(without depending on pure luck):
- Assessing and visualizing your current network
- Identify ways to strengthen your network
- Initiate and develop reciprocal relationships within your network
- Leverage your network to achieve your personal/organizational goals
- Sustaining networks in the long term
I’m confident that putting more work into lasting relationships and a strong network can create more value in the long-term. Although it feels a bit weird for me to really plan and approach such a subject with concrete tools and strategies.
