Welcome to my first post at my newly created blog.

Why is it called data-dreamer?

1. I like to describe myself as a “Data Enthusiast”.
2. I planned to get a .com-domain.
3. data-enthusiast.com was not available anymore (and would also be a bit hard to spell) so I translated Enthusiast back and forth (from German to English) and came up with Dreamer.

Why this blog?

I had the idea to start a blog a while ago. A few months ago I stumbled over Pat Walls who is writing daily and inspired me. I’d like to try the same over here: blog (almost) daily (or at least regularly) and therefore channel my thoughts as well as getting better at writing itself.

What will I blog about?

My goal is to blog about everything which a) comes to my mind and is b) affecting me personally:

• Sport: last year I started to run on a regular base and I am quite amazed what improvements (regarding distance & pace) are possible with a bit of determination.
• Financials: I like the Open Startup movement. Why not do the same about personal finances? Exchanging information with peers about salary / net worth / portfolio / investment decisions helped me to grow my knowledge in each of the areas and I’d like to foster that further.
• Career: so far, I was quite lucky with my (classical) career. As written earlier: through channeling my thoughts I hope to also grow in this area further.
• Data: I’m working as a data engineer / data architect for a big IT consulting company and if I find anything interesting I also plan to share it here.
• Other: whatever is coming to my mind and I consider worth sharing.
